Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will my website take to set up?

Filling in our sign up form takes about 30 seconds! We will send you an email with your login details and you can get started on your shiny new website straight away! Of course you will still need to fill it with great content, but we make that really easy for you! Realistically you can have a great site within a few hours.

  • Am I in total control of all content?

Yes! You need to work within the parameters of the template, however you can edit all text and imagery, there is no centrally driven advertising on the site and you can switch pages off that you don’t require.

  • How does the fundraising option work?

We have teamed up with Give as you Live to encourage your members and supporters to raise funds for you just through shopping online. You will have a fundraising page within the site with an option of a fundraising total on your home page. This is a great way to help you raise funds without too much work from yourselves!  Of course if you don't want this feature you can opt out at any time.

  • How do I add my members to the database?

Simply upload from a spreadsheet or ask your members to register via the site and you can convert them to full membership. Because the member has full access to their own profile you can give them the responsibility of keeping their own details up to date.

  • How secure is my member data?

We use SSL security 128bit encryption on all our sites which ensures your data is kept safe. Your data is backed up twice daily to two separate servers so your data really is secure with us.

  • What provision is there for members who don’t use the internet?

We recognise the fact that some members may prefer not to make online payments or receive notifications by email. We have designed the system to enable you to create member invoices in pdf format so that you can print and send them. For general communications you can create a mailmerge file in csv format. If you are taking payments you can manually update a member’s details if they pay by cash or cheque.

  • Am I tied into a contract?

No you are not tied into a contract. Because of the time and effort you put in to setting up your website and communicating it's presence to your members we do recommend the website is set up for a minimum of one year and you can pay your annual subscription in advance. However we are more than happy for you to pay quarterly in advance if that suits your club better (please note all payments made in advance will be non-refundable).

  • How do we pay for our package?

You can set up a direct debit directly from your content management system for quarterly or annual payments; alternatively you can opt to pay by bank transfer or cheque for your annual fees.

  • We already have a domain name, can we still use it?

Yes, you can keep this name and point it to our servers. We'll give you clear advice and guidance on how to do this.

  • Will the domain name cost me anything?

No, your subdomain is free with your subscription to GroupBuzz. This subdomain can also be used while setting up your website or until your currently registered domain is pointed to our servers.

  • We don’t have a domain name is that a problem?

No problem, we'll give you what is called a subdomain. You can pick the first part of the subdomain you want. For example if your club is called Long Eaton Tappers you could chose a subdomain like letappers. This would then be used with our domain name and your site would become letappers.groupbuzz.co.uk

  • Do I need to pay for hosting?

No, your website will be fully hosted on our site as part of your chosen package. If you keep your own domain name this means you may make some financial savings as you can drop the hosting element from your current supplier. You will need to continue to pay for your domain name registration.

  • Are there any other costs I should be aware of?

If you use your site to collect money from your members you need to be aware of the additional costs you may incur. For collections by GoCardless you will be charged 1.4% per transaction and for card payments Stripe charge 1.9% + 20p per transaction and we will collect a 5p transaction fee for every card payment.

If you use your site to send text messages you will need to purchase text bundles from the site, these cost £4.95 for 100.  Apart from that there are NO other fees except your annual subscription with us.
